Arne Slott has now opened up about the interest he received from “a number of Premier League clubs” ahead of his move to Liverpool.
The 45-year-old admitted that he chose to stay at Feyenoord and renew his contract rather than jump ship in 2023.
“I think those moments are always very private because no one needs to know about it. So, when you first heard that Liverpool were interested in you, you had to keep it a secret from me and my wife. the former AZ Alkmaar boss told Liverpoolfc.com.
“I always knew that when I left Feyenoord it would be a great club, this is Liverpool and this is the league.
“I think a year ago I also attracted interest from some Premier League clubs, but I decided to renew my contract with Feyenoord and intend to stay there for another two seasons.”
The Dutchman has signed a three-year contract with the Reds which will keep him at Anfield until the summer of 2027.

Liverpool will face Ipswich Town on August 17 at 12:30 noon, which is Slott’s first official game in charge.

Tottenham Hotspur were keen on bringing in Slott last year
There was good evidence that Spurs were interested in hiring our manager last year (The Guardian).
The north London-based outfit have instead brought in Australian manager Angie Postkoglu – a move that is by no means unsuccessful considering the club are just two points away from qualifying for the 2024/25 Champions League.
Regardless, you have to respect Slot’s decision to stay put and hold out for the bigger move.
His patience definitely paid off!
