Former Middlesbrough striker Silad Nemeth says Middlesbrough must get off to a good start in the 2024-25 season if they want to compete for a Premier League place next season.
The Teesside side ended last season in good form but had too much to make up for after a slow first half. Michael Carrick had to integrate a raft of new players into his squad and was hit by a series of injuries which meant Middlesbrough struggled to maintain consistency.
However, there is a strong belief that they are a positive sign for next season’s promotion challenge and the former Middlesbrough striker feels everything is in place to make that happen. However, he warned Middlesbrough not to risk another pursuit.

“I think Michael Carrick has done a really good job,” Nemeth told OLBG. “They reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and lost to Chelsea, playing very good football but Chelsea were too good.
“I hope they qualify next year. It’s always very difficult, very tense, but I believe Michael has what it takes to get them through.”
“I think it’s very important to get off to a good start in the first ten games of next season. If you’re at the top, you’ll have the form to keep going and a good atmosphere in the dressing room. “
Middlesbrough won’t have to wait long to find out what their fixture list will be for the 2024-25 season, with the EFL fixtures set to be released at 9am on Wednesday 26 June.
