Guardiola spoke out on the moment he thought Manchester City would lose the Premier League title to Arsenal

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken of the moment he thought the Premier League title could fall into Arsenal’s hands.

The Spaniard revealed his anxiety when Tottenham striker Son Heung-min scored on Tuesday night and how shocked he was that Arsenal would go top of the league table on the final day if Son scored. The potential for Deja Vu is huge, as Son has historically often beaten City after Manu Akanji’s errors, especially considering City have never previously won at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League.

However, two goals from Erling Haaland ensured victory for City, which means City can beat West Ham United to win the league title on Sunday. Had Son Heung-min scored at a crucial moment in the second half, things might have been very different.

“Do you know how many times Son Heung-min has punished us in the last seven or eight years? How many goals have they scored with Harry Kane? Oh my God,” Guardiola said.

“We’re here to define how the team is,” he continued. “Ortega saved the team, otherwise Arsenal would have been champions, that’s the reality. Margins are so tight.”

“Stefan made an unbelievable save. He has this talent, one-on-one he is one of the best goalkeepers I have ever seen in my life. He has the German culture of stand up and don’t fall down. Ederson has been injured four times since I arrived, in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup. [this season]. He’s very reliable and an unbelievable goalkeeper. Our goalkeeping coach made an incredible decision to sign him.
