Vincent Comani issues Burnley warning to Tottenham ahead of Premier League clash

Vincent Kompany insists the pressure is off Burnley ahead of Saturday’s must-win Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Burnley’s hopes of survival will be dashed if they take three points less in north London, and even then, Nottingham Forest could still be relegated later in the day if they beat Chelsea. With five points left in the safety zone and two games remaining, the Clarets’ odds are stacked against them.

“I wouldn’t describe this game as a high-pressure game on our part,” Kompany said. “I don’t think we have anything to lose.

“If you were holding a two-point lead this weekend, I could see it being a different mentality. If I said there was no pressure in that moment, maybe I would be trying to talk myself out of it, but in this case, I sincerely believe it. It’s all an opportunity for us.

Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a fourth straight defeat in the league, all but ending their hopes of a top-four finish. If Burnley can find a way to take five points and reduce the gap to two points this weekend, their fate will be back in their own hands when Forest visit Turf Moor on the final day of the season.

“I don’t want to think about the Forest game right now,” Kompany added. “I think (Tottenham) is our last game and I think if we give ourselves a final against Forest, that’s the final.
