If you’re wondering how many points Arsenal need at least to save the Champions League, don’t bother.

Led by Mikel Arteta, the days of the north Londoners hanging out at the VIP entrance hoping for a last-gasp break into Europe’s elite competition are over. The Arsenal boss chuckled at the training ground on Friday as he reflected on the overlooked achievement with a focus on their slim title hopes.

He insisted there is much more to come from a team that has struggled for a top four finish and two titles in the past three seasons, saying: “No one has even asked us if we qualify for the Champions League! No. one question!

“The only focus now is winning the Premier League. So what will next season look like?

“These are the demands. This is how we live in this world. Now what have you done and what have we not done?

“The question now is what else? What do we do now? What have you done? The Champions League is taken for granted.

They also have the best defense and best attack this season, scoring a combined 85 goals, a number that has only been exceeded twice in Premier League history. However, the fact that City will lift the trophy if they win their remaining games keeps Arteta grounded as he celebrates the latest phase of his side’s progress.
