Gary Lineker gives Arsenal Premier League title verdict and pinpoints signing key to challenge


Gary Lineker names Declan Rice as signing to enable Arsenal to challenge for the Premier League title.

The Gunners signed Rice from West Ham United for £105m last summer. Since then, he has become one of the key players in Mikel Arteta’s side, helping Arsenal compete with Manchester City and Liverpool for the league title.




Arsenal remain top of the table but just one point ahead of Manchester City, who have a game in hand after beating Brighton 4-0 on Thursday. The Gunners are now preparing to face Tottenham Hotspur in this weekend’s north London derby.

This is Arsenal’s second season competing with Manchester City for the league title. Now Lineker assesses the Gunners’ chances of winning the league and explains why Rice’s arrival could help improve their chances.

“I think they have [Arsenal] Lineker told the Two Robbies podcast: “Last season I was their first real challenge for the title, but they finished a little bit short.

“But I think they really missed it [William] Saliba has been injured over the past few weeks, but that has not happened this season. His partnership with Gabriel at the back is very strong – their defensive record this season is excellent.
