Brighton vs Manchester City live: Tonight’s Premier League team news, line-up and more

Jurgen Klopp apologizes to Liverpool fans after Merseyside derby defeat

Brighton host Manchester City tonight in a midweek Premier League clash as the visitors look to continue their title challenge.

After beating Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday to secure passage to the FA Cup final, Pep Guardiola’s side will now aim to close the gap on Arsenal and continue their title challenge. The Gunners beat Chelsea 5-0 on Tuesday to move three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the table, while Jurgen Klopp’s side were dealt a heavy blow yesterday when Everton beat them 2-0.

Manchester City remain favorites as Mikel Arteta’s side have two games remaining and are just four points behind. Still, the margin for error is slim and Guardiola knows his side cannot afford to fall behind against a potentially tenacious Brighton tonight.

After winning European football for the first time in the club’s history last year, the Seagulls still have a chance of repeating the feat. They are six points behind seventh-placed Newcastle United and could move up to ninth if they beat Manchester City.

Early team news

Guardiola confirmed Erling Haaland will miss out through injury again, although Phil Foden and John Stones, who missed training earlier this week, will both be available. However, Guardiola manages a busy schedule so some rotation may be necessary.

Brighton have a host of injury concerns, including with Evan Ferguson, Billy Gilmour, James Milner and Adam Webster, although they could all be back soon. And Kaoru Mitoma and Solly March may not appear again at this event.
